A Personal Vision

Firstly, I'd like to establish that the following answer is a completely personal viewpoint and does not include other members, participants or collaborators of this website or linked institutions.

Love and Friendship
|
|
I generally think that friendship on the one hand and love between man and woman on the other, have been present ever since the human being has claimed his supremacy in the animal kingdom.
Both are feelings that can be expressed in certain circumstances and in different manners, belonging to a preestablished code of conduct that is, in case of friendship, linked with sociability (human beings form social groups and cultures) and the sexual desire (in case of love), a feature that is incorporated in our genetics.

Friendship
|
|
Friendship doesn't depend on the sex and can be found between two or more persons. Friendship, in my opinion, has always been created upon harmony of the personalities, mutual ideas, affinities and the acceptance of each other's defects and lacks.

|
An unwritten Protocol
|
|
Furthermore I think that friendship is an unwritten protocol or agreement between two or more persons in order to help and share with each other. In its foundation there is the solidarity in the life of the community, a very important aspect that protected the specie when the human being was fighting for its supremacy in this world.

Appearing and Disappearing
|
|
Friendship is functional within a variety of circumstances and always a consequence of a certain reason of identity with the others that participate in this friendship. When this identity disappears, or the element that works as a stimulant, friendship also disappears - although it can be recreated once these stimulants are reinstated - and friendship will be substituted by a neutral register of experiences that serves as a model for the generation of similar processes.

Love
|
|
Love between man and woman, independently from the free idealization that each person can give to another from his or her own cultural perspective and within the frame of the society in which one grows, has, in my opinion, its base and foundation in a biochemical conjunction and interaction between the two.

Love and Genetics
|
|
This biochemical conjunction goes deep into the genetic structure of the human species and constitutes the tool which is used to seek to maintain supremacy regarding the other species. That is how the evolutionary theory suggests it, with which concepts I identify myself.

The Assistant Mechanism
|
|
The love between man and woman is therefore seen as a preestablished mechanism assisting the sexual instinct. It is placed in the human genetics. Thus it is transcendent and, most of the times, it reins over reason.

|
The Natural Selection
|
|
Since the love between man and woman is an assistant mechanism of the sexual instinct, it acts in order to contribute to the relation (natural selection) between the human beings of opposite sex and only in cases of alterations of the sexual chromosomes and as a consequence of the disorders and disorientation that they provoke, between individuals of the same sex.

The Sexual Instinct
|
|
Behind this love there is the sexual instinct and an evolutionary logic that made the selection of such desire that is firstly expressed through a mutual recognition, perception, evaluation and personal acceptance. It goes on with an exchange of non verbal codes (movements and gestures) and, since the moment when humans learned to speak, through verbal expressions (through voice). This extends to a stage of exchanging experiences and seeking for affinity and eventually culminates in the exploration, physical stimulation and the discovery of shared sexuality.

Teen Relationships

|
For what has been said before, I believe that the love during adolescence has full legitimacy and this also goes for their sexuality.
Like A. Fischer says "...the sexual desire is a feature that exists in each individual without the necessity of having been taught, learned or imitated. It is incorporated within our genome and was selected because it is and instinct that allows to transmit the genes to the next generation, an essential fact in order to prevent vanishing as a specie of the animal kingdom.
This is a genetic feature of the human being, without precluding the variations of the ways and habits with which sexual desire is manifested through behaviour in the different cultures." (A. Fischer A. "Evolution...The New paradigm". University Edition. Santiago, Chile. Year 2001).

Sexuality and Adolescence
|
|
Adolescent sexuality is seen as a problem when the human being, according to the investigation and the discoveries of the medical science, modifies and extends its survival, unalterably maintaining his stages of sexual maturity that are printed in the genetic codes.

|
An Ancient Mandate
|
|
Today, like millions of years before, the mechanism of reproduction are already fully active in the human beings during their adolescent years. This is an ancient condition that prepares them to fulfil the natural mandate of conserving the specie. It had been this way when life expectancy wasn't more than 25 years of age for our predecessors.

|
Genome and Sexual Desire
|
|
In clear words, as Fischer says, the sexual desire is incorporated in our genome and was selected because it is a destined instinct to avoid vanishing as a specie of the animal kingdom, and while life expectancy was extending the predominating human has held his own, but the mechanism of sexuality are conserved intact in the individuals as if the human beings were still at risk.

Extension of Life
|
|
When the horizon of human life was extended, up to the Seventies the modern society had, in stead of providing an appropriate education about love and sexuality so that each one of the adolescents could have faced and administered their stage more responsibly, opted for the coherence under certain aspects, a false effort that intended to inhibit their vital impulse to procreate.

Prevention
|
|
But since the sexual instinct can not be held back, neither in adults nor in adolescents, the medical science has searched for resources in order to prevent its consequences - procreation - through different types of contraception, a step that acquires more and more consistency in the Western Societies.
|
|
Mother-Father Responsibility
|
|
It is necessary to admit that, although the mandate of nature to procreate is within the genetics of each young person, it is a fact that the complexity of the modern life obligates us to assume the function as mother and father with responsibility, no matter in which society of the world one lives. And this is what should be taught to the adolescents from their childhood on.

|
Preparatory Exercises
|
|
Thus the entire set of genetic, sociological and historical circumstances is what has turned the relationship between teenagers in preparatory exercises in order to face a future adult relationship.
|
|
Responsible Adults
|
|
The theorist supposition is that the young need to understand that, in order to fulfil the natural order of procreation, they have to reach adulthood with sufficient social tools (economic resources and materials) to assume their duties as a mother or father with responsibility.
|
|
Procreation
|
|
In order to make the adolescents understand the concept of procreation, I think the point from which to start making them understand the relationships during adolescence and their sexual behaviour.
|
|
Clashes of Features
|
|
The condition of "sexual responsibility" that is demanded from the adolescents is put in the context of each nation with its own defined cultural features and it turns into a code of conduct that provokes disorientation in the adolescents because it clashes with their biological features.
|
|
Nature yes, Society no
|
|
It therefore occurs that whereas their cultural environment (the society in which one lives) tells the adolescent that he or she mustn't have sexual relationships, the same adolescent and his/her girl or boyfriend feel in some moment, the natural mandate of procreating, expressed in progressive states of mutual sexual excitement that can be uncontrollable.
|
|
Matter of Worries
|
|
This situation should preoccupy all national leaders and medical investigators because it is already a proven fact that adolescence (especially with girls) is occurring earlier within the developed societies and within societies emerging as such, as a consequence of hormonal alterations triggered by changes in their diet. Such situation will generate a higher number of adolescents that turn early into single mothers with the consequent social impact.
