Are there differences in maturity between boys and girls during adolescence?
"In general girls develop a little bit faster than boys. Girls start puberty about one or two years earlier than the boys do, not only regarding physical changes but also their emotional side matures faster. When I speak of maturity I do refer to the emotional aspect. If we talk about a lets so call it social maturity, it's the boys that mature faster, for instance they move out of their family's home earlier, start being independent and work and live on their own earlier than the girls. This way, the girls do not reach maturity earlier in all its aspects but they certainly do so in terms of the emotional side that comes especially into play concerning teen relationships".

How does this difference reflect on the couple relationship?
"If you have fallen in love with a boy that matures slowly, you have to arm yourself with patience. Determine the aspects you are really looking for, for example if you care a lot about what the others think about him, if he has special mental strong points or if he is a genius in some things or incompetent in others. You should like his characteristics a lot when considering a relationship with him".
